Pinot Noir
Moravia, Czech Republic
A positively power-packed pinot from a brand new Czech project. We are SO excited to introduce, for the first time in Ontario, the charmingly untameable and artistic wines of Mirka Nestarec. The answer to Mirka’s longing for the wines of the past from her partner Milan Nestarec, their guidance of the Mira vines is about as minimal as it gets. Shoots grows close to the sun as they dare, with no trimming or cutting…in fact, rarely a human hand touches the vines. From a 15-year-old vineyard with well-draining, aromatically-encouraging sandy soil. The pinot is semi-carbonically macerated for even MORE lift, and aged in old oak, then bottled without coarse sediments after eight months of self love. FUN FACT! Her labels are adorned by pivotal figures from her time as a dancer, with this one featuring Lester Horton (1906 – 1953) – an American dancer known for his unrestricted, dramatic freedom of expression! A red daylilly that is so rich in colour it makes your mouth water, pine forest saved from logging, cherry kirsch, pool, grey clay & witty remarks. A LOVELY addition to any picnic table, stoop, or gourmet takeout scenario.
